May 7 was one month since I created my nostr account using snort.social and received my first zap to my lightning wallet. At 8:03 a.m. 69 sats were zapped into my lightning wallet by The Renegade Butcher. I should have noted my balance that day, but I believe it was under 1000. Today I have over 12k sats,  If you convert that to USD, it’s less than $0.01.

The second zap I got was from Jack Dorsey, creator of many things including Cash App, and Twitter.

What is Nostr?

Nostr stands for “Notes and Other Stuff Transmitted by Relays”. Like HTTP or TCP-IP, Nostr is a protocol; an open standard upon which anyone can build. Nostr itself is not an app or service that you sign up for.

Nostr is designed for simplicity and enables censorship-resistant and globally decentralized publishing on the web. So as you explore it understand there WILL be things there that offend you. It’s on you to block accounts that you don’t want to see, not some random person in a basement.
