Extended Paws

February 24, 2021

It is always difficult to share unpleasant news. Sometimes you still have to do it.

Jack, our last rescue Boxer, has developed congestive heart disease. He also has an issue with his lower spine. The combination of problems means he is unable to climb the house stairs and must stay on the first level of the house day and night.

Having Jack downstairs isn’t an issue, until you start talking nighttime. Since he can no longer climb the 15 stairs to the bedroom he must sleep downstairs. Sleeping downstairs means we don’t hear him when he needs out, and he needs out at least twice each night. Therefore, one of us has to stay downstairs with him at night.

This is the reason we have extended our restriction on room reservations. Guests should not worry that they will encounter a host sleeping on the couch if the need to visit the bathroom arises at night.

Jack is part of our family. We go to great lengths to care for every one of our family, even those not related by blood. 🙂

Thank you for understanding.
