October 14, 2013, is the day Gracie came home! Today, I went to Flatwoods, met with Jessica of Big Dogs Rescue, and brought Gracie home.
She is such a good dog. She accepted the seat belt harness with no problems. She climbed up in the truck readily.

Mom traveled with me. She kept looking back at Gracie. It didn’t take long for Gracie to settle down on her dog pillow and start snoozing.
I dropped Mom off before going to the house. Tori and Damian couldn’t wait to meet Gracie. I knew she would be having a stressful day, so I asked the kids to just pet her through the window. Once Gracie was settled they could come over and play with her.
I suspect Gracie is confused. You can’t just tell a dog, “Hey, you live here now.” You kinda have to let them figure it out. You also can’t just tell the cats they have a new dog. Everyone will need some time to adjust.
My son and daughter-in-law came over later with their dogs. Ginger was quick to make friends with Gracie. Cinnamon, on the other hand, did not take to her at all.
After a long day, Gracie seemed to settle down and sleep well.
