Chalkboard message boards continue to be the rage. This upcycle makes a message board from an old cabinet door.
All it takes is a little imagination, chalkboard paint, laytex paint, and time to transform these old cabinet doors into great little message centers.
I found these doors at a local Habitat for Humanity ReStore. It’s a little hard to see from this picture, but each had some holes from hinges and handles.
On one I drilled matching holes to secure knobs (also purchased at the ReStore). The other I filled the holes with wood filler. Both got a good sanding in order to prepare for the paint.
I used a light yellow latex paint on one, red on one, and orange on one. I taped off the center area for the chalkboard paint. Following the chalkboard paint instructions, season the board with chalk.
On the back, hanger hardware was placed so they can be hung on the wall. The knobs allow for hanging a light jacket, sweater, scarf, or bundle of dried herbs.
I love finding new ways to use old things!
