Upcycled virtual assistant and political candidate.

May 20, 2013

HA!HA! I updated the bio on my revised Twitter account: @RobinAHolstein.

I had to think of something. I’m moving past my virtual assistant business, and stepping back from politics. (Although I still hold elected positions in my county and state political party executive committees.) I am venturing into the upcycle craft arena. I opted to revise the Twitter account instead of creating another one. So, I crafted the following bio:

Upcycled virtual assistant and political candidate. I transform junk you don’t want into stuff you gotta have!

I think it kind a fits. LOL Upcycling is the process of converting waste materials or useless products into new materials or products of better quality or for better environmental value. So, I am putting my old skills into new use in a way that is better for me and the environment.

Oh, I am not an environmentalist in the traditional sense. I don’t protest coal mines, in fact, I depend upon them But, like my grandparents, and really my dad as well, I don’t see the point in throwing something out if it still has life, or can be used in a new way.

My grandparents survived The Depression. My dad learned from them, but he also learned to use scrap materials to create useful tools as a welder/fabricator. He could weld a few pieces of pipe to make saw-horses. Or a few scrap pieces of sheet metal and angle iron to make a welding bench. Or, his masterpiece – build a combination backhoe/end-loader out of GM and Ford truck parts.

So, I am trying my hand at upcycling. I keep looking for new ideas. Feel free to share.
